
Getting Your Sidel Lamps Right—No Matter the Machine
If you’re managing a fleet of Sidel machines, you know the headache. You’ve got a mix of old-school SBO lines and the newer Matrix series all running at once. Trying to find replacement lamps that actually work across the board can feel like a guessing game. We didn’t want to give you some generic “universal” part that barely fits. Instead, we built these lamps to mirror the original specs exactly. They just slide in. No fuss, no fighting with the hardware. The electrical side of things Here’s the deal: Sidel ovens are picky. If the heat density is off, you either get scorched plastic or preforms that aren’t soft enough. We match the voltage and wattage to your specific series. If you’re pushing a high-output Matrix line, you can’t just use any bulb; you need something that can handle that heavy load without blowing out the second you flip the switch. That’s why we use heavy-gauge tungsten filaments. They’re tough. They don’t pop during power-up. The fit (because millimeters matter) There is nothing more frustrating than a lamp that’s just a tiny bit too long, or a connector that won’t quite click. It’s a nightmare. We obsess over the mechanical tolerances. Whether you’re dealing with R7s or those specialized SK connectors, our lamps just fit. We use high-purity quartz glass so the infrared heat actually gets to the bottle, not trapped in the glass. Some of our versions even have special coatings to bounce the heat back toward the preform and keep it away from your machine frame. A quick word of advice High-wattage lamps are great for fast cycle times, but they put a lot of stress on your cooling fans. If your vents are clogged or your airflow is sluggish, these lamps are going to run way too hot. That’s how you kill the quartz envelope early. Keep your airflow clean. And do yourself a favor: check your socket tension every 1,000 hours. It takes two minutes, but it stops that annoying arcing at the contact points before it becomes a real problem.
