That’s why we put quartz heating tubes right into our stainless steel convection ovens. It gives you that targeted hit of heat exactly where you need it.
The Trick to the Right Glow
Here is the thing: not all IR is the same. Some hits the surface fast and deep; others just skim the top to get that nice brown color. If you throw a tube with too much wattage into a small oven, you’re asking for trouble. You’ll end up with a burnt shell and a raw center. We spend a lot of time balancing the wattage and the distance from the bread so the heat stays steady and doesn’t just spike.
Why Quartz and Steel?
We go with high-purity quartz because it lets the heat through without wasting any energy. Then, we house those tubes in stainless steel. Now, the steel isn’t just there to keep things clean. It actually bounces some of that heat back toward your food. It’s a simple trick, but it makes the whole thing way more efficient. And if you have a weird space or a specific setup, we can tweak the tube length and voltage. Higher voltage is great for longer tubes because it keeps the temperature from dipping at the ends.
The Trade-offs (Because nothing is perfect)
The best part? These tubes heat up incredibly fast. You aren’t stuck waiting an hour for the oven to preheat. It just works. But there’s a catch. Quartz is fragile. If your fans are vibrating too much or your mounts are slightly off, the tubes can crack. You have to give them room to breathe. If you clamp them down too tight, the heat will cause them to expand, and—snap—there goes your tube. We make sure the brackets allow for that movement so you don’t have to worry about it.
